“"Jack has already had an intersting football career".”
Having appeared as a trialist in last Friday's pre-season game against AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Jack McGovern has now signed for Corby Town. Although still a young man Jack has already had an interesting football career. He joined his local club Lincoln City as a teenager in 2006 and spent two years at Sincil Bank. Following his release in July 2008 he quickly set about finding a new career and within three months had begun an apprenticeship as a gas engineer.
He continued his football career with spells at Lincoln United and Lincoln Moorlands and then in 2012 he signed for Graham Drury at Stamford. In March 2013 Jack swapped one former Steelman for another when he joined Spalding United - managed by Pat Rayment.
Jack's travels then took him to Coalville Town and Kings Lynn before he rejoined Lincoln United in July, 2014. He also had a brief sojourn at Grantham prior to returning to Spalding in October, 2014. He then had another stop-off at Lincoln United and in November, 2016 made the step up in standard to Gainsborough Trinity. His frustration at being unable to hold down a regular first team place there saw him return to Lincoln United but following a change of manager at Gainsborough he re-signed for Trinity in March, 2017.
A former midfield player now operation as a striker, Jack originally agreed terms to stay at Gainsborough Trinity in May, 2017 but following a change of heart he has now joined David Bell's Steelmen revolution. We welcome him to Steel Park and hope he has a successful spell with Corby Town.
