Ladies concede late goal in first cup final
The League Cup final was an even contest played in fine spirits by two good teams. The young Corby side took a few mins to get used to the occasion but settled into the game creating a variety of chances in the first half. They were however forced into an early change when goalkeeper Shana Haynes dislocated her shoulder. Still Corby were testing Corby with Laura Dodwell a constant threat along with Nicole Andrejczuk. Leanne Keen came closest to opening the scoring getting on the end of a Nicole Coull freekick to power a header towards goal only for the keeper to pull off a great save. Thrapston however had the better of the second half with experience showing through and weary Corby legs, but the Corby defence marshalled by Stacey McConville held strong, however with minutes to go Thrapston got the break through to claim the cup. Congratulations to all.
